Thanks to NASA and developer Fusion Media we’ll get the chance, in a few months, to experience how it is to walk on the surface of the red planet. It is believed that in the next couple of decades human kind will colonize Mars, despite all the harsh conditions.

But we don’t have to wait that long. In a few months anybody owning an Oculus Rift or an HTC Vive will be able to experience roaming 25 square kilometers of our neighbor planet. People who tried it said the experience is very close to (what might be) the real thing.

This is the teaser for MARS 2030:

Right now the developer pays enormous attention to details and only machines that run dual NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti GPUs can load the app but the team plans to scale things down in order to make it available for more common hardware, like the GTX 970.
