So, HTC brings Vive Pre, one of the few HMD every vr enthusiast should know about. We’ve talked about the new Rift which certainly worth keeping our eyes on but the Vive pre looks at least as promising. The Vive has a couple of unique features though: A newly developed front-facing camera that allows you to still interact with the outside world by blending physical elements into the virtual space (a touch of AR never hurt anyone) and, in their words, “a Full Room Scale 360 Degree Solution with Tracked Controllers” (wow, I bet these guys are fun at parties), that lets you get up, walk around and explore your virtual space, inspect objects from every angle and truly interact with your surroundings.

The HTC VIVE PRE headset features high quality graphics, 90 frames per second video and incredible audio fidelity. Apart from that we get two wireless VR controllers that are nicely shaped, simple and intuitive to use. Regarding the audio there’s a jack placed on the side of the headset that let you use your favorite pair of headphones.

So competition made those giants bring their best to the market. We’ll havce to wait until April when the HTC VIVE PRE will be available to see how they compare. Something tells us that the only clear winner will be the end user. One thing is for sure: horror movies will never be the same.

Here’s a hands on of the Vive from Ollie43. Enjoy:
